Job Description:

The Systems and Network technician is responsible for Le Moyne's network, telephony, and CATV infrastructure, including monitoring, configuration, acquisition, troubleshooting, removal, maintenance, and related lifecycle activities of assigned systems and equipment.

Job duties specific to this position:

  • Actively maintains the network and telephony equipment, communications circuits, data, voice, and low-voltage cabling, door access control electronics, video surveillance devices and related peripherals and cabling.
  • Supports the resolution of technology issues. Ensures that assigned incidents and requests are responded to and resolved in accordance with established standards.
  • Utilizes tools to routinely monitor the performance and availability of assigned devices and services.
  • Manages Le Moyne's systems and networking equipment, including configuration, inventory, repair, and recycling of phones, network switches, uninterruptible power supplies, cameras, card readers, servers, wireless access points, and firewalls in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Maintains an inventory of spare equipment, including identification, quantity, and location, and utilizes asset management system to track equipment.
  • Installs, tests, and repairs data, voice, coaxial, fiber and low voltage cabling, wall plates, and termination fittings as required.
  • Establishes and maintains documentation of assigned systems and services.
  • Manages relationships with and facilitates the work of external vendors, including site visits, walkthroughs, providing specifications, obtaining quotes, submitting purchase orders, and receiving deliverables.
  • Participates in the planning, design, and implementation of facilities development and renewal, including specifying technology requirements, reviewing plans, and coordinating with other trades.
  • Participates in the hiring, supervision, coordination, and mentoring of student employees.
  • Provide on call and weekend support as a member of the Systems and Network Services team.
  • Adheres to departmental service management standards.
  • At all times, applies principles and practices that promote the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Le Moyne's information and information and technology services.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with other IT staff and the Le Moyne community in visual, oral, and written form

  • Performs a variety of related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent academic preparation from a regionally accredited college.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience supporting data communications, telephony networks, and systems.
  • Working knowledge of network infrastructure equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, ethernet, copper and fiber cabling, PBX systems, cameras, and UPS's.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in after hours and 24x7 incident response.
  • Proficiency with multimeters and network testers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows 10 and office productivity and collaboration applications, including Microsoft Office, Email, and web conferencing.
  • Familiarity with the academic and administrative functions of a college is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills and experience.

Pay Range: $28.37-$34.89/hr
