The online courses are a way for student affairs administrators -- at all levels--to supplement both their formal and experiential education. The Web is the perfect tool to involve practitioners
from all parts of the country, at all size institutions, and at all levels. Participants interacting from such diverse
backgrounds will be creating a unique and highly charged learning environment.

We will survey the foundational theory and literature associated with college student development in North America, as well as a brief review of the history and trends within the field. Students need not have any formal training in Student Development, and so online discussions and exercises will be collegial and supportive, without insecurities about one's current state of knowledge.
Course 2:College Students with Asperger's Syndrome Instructor: Lisa King Dates: March 1-19 Cost: $130 (DEADLINE is February 26) Summary: In this course, we will define Aspergers Syndrome, look at the increase in incidence, examine how students are affected on campus and in class, and discuss accommodations issues.
Course 3:Supporting Online Learners Instructor: Anita Crawley Dates: March 1-28 Cost: $130 (DEADLINE is February 26) Summary: In this course students will explore resources from the Western Cooperative for Educational Telecommunications (WCET), discuss resources their institutions currently deliver at a distance and identify priorities for additional services that might be made available to online students. We will brainstorm what students need to know before deciding to enroll, upon starting their first online course, and during enrollment in online coursework? After identifying gaps in services, participants will create one project that will help close the gap between what is currently available to online students at their institutions and what would help enhance the success of online students. The baseline for many institutions is information delivered from the college website. As a group, we will build from this beginning.
