Key Components in Developing a Resident Assistant Class

Course Overview:
This three week on-line course examines how to develop and effective Resident Assistant class.
Participants will extensively explore three major course topics:
- Comprehensive Resident Assistant course content.
- How to Effectively use technology to promote student learning,
- How to design and implement experiential components of the course so the course becomes not just a static delivery of course content, but is an active, relevant experience for the developing Resident Assistant.
Active participation on the part of student affairs professionals taking this course will make for a more positive course experience. Participants need to be able to connect to the internet and know how to use e-mail and discussion lists.
Individuals registering for CEUs will receive 1.0 CEU upon successful
completion of the course.
Instructor Bio:
Kim Chambers, Ph.D. Dr. Chambers has taught resident assistant courses at the University of
Florida, the University of Connecticut and in the University of Wisconsin
system. His involvement with Resident Assistant courses began in the mid
seventies at the University of Florida where he both took and taught many
sections of the "Student Development in a University Setting" series which
included a pre-service Resident Assistant course. At the University of
Connecticut he taught during service RA courses from 1982 - 1997, including
both the RA class lectures and multiple RA class discussion sections.
