Online Residence Assistant Training Module
INTRODUCTION:
Training for Resident Assistants is an on-going process, covering many topical areas. Whether during the summer months or at the start of a fall semester, there is rarely enough time to cover all the important subjects.
StudentAffairs.com, the leading Internet resource for student affairs professionals, presents its Online Residence Assistant Training Module.
HOW DOES THE TRAINING WORK
The Online Residence Assistant Training Module can be
(1) structured as a complete five week course (which can be expanded to eight) encompassing nine topic areas (see below) or
(2) broken down into a series of 1-9 individually registered topic areas.
- As part of the RA application process
- Once RAs have been selected, but before summer training
- To supplement summer training
- In lieu of a fall RA seminar
The Module is a hybrid between a self-paced training program and an online workshop. Each training Module has a facilitator that leads your Resident Assistant staff through PowerPoint presentations, Discussion boards, Assignments, Case studies, and Assessments.
The Module topics include:

Conflict Mediation/Resolution General counseling information Diversity issues Alcohol and substance abuse Mental health issues |
Leadership skills Decision-making Communication skills Programming basics |
ASSESSING PARTICIPATION
Each subscribing school receives a unique logon and password to access the training site. Utilizing the online assessment tool, Surveymonkey.com, supervisors will be able to:
- track participation level of each Resident Assistant
- gauge your staff's competency in grasping the course material
- will have the option to assign a pass/fail grade to each Resident Assistant
PRICING STRUCTURE
The cost of the Online Residence Assistant Training Module is based on the number of Resident Assistants you want to participate in the Module. Complete modules or individual sections may be purchased.
