Week 1: Course Operation/ Review Syllabus
Premise:
The instructors assume students will enter the course with varied
competencies in technology but we wish to assure students that
their competencies will be expanded upon and enhanced through
the course of the semester. We will review the syllabus and assignments
highlighting the applications and software necessary to complete
the course objectives. In-depth skills workshops will be conducted
in later weeks.
Purpose:
To examine and discuss the course website, online discussion
board (Web CT or Blackboard) and review course assignments.
In Class Exercises:
Take the online tutorial associated with the discussion board.
Practice submitting a personal statement to the discussion board.
Discuss the technological problems you have experienced or anticipate
experiencing during the course.
Home Exercises:
Take the online ERIC tutorial located at:
http://www.lib.ncsu.edu/tutorials/eric/
Use ERIC to find one article on the subject of What is Technology?
or The History of Technology? Post to the online discussion board
an abstract and citation for the article you chose. Postings must
be submitted four days before the next class session. Students
are responsible for reading all abstracts before Week 2.
