Americana, Marijuana Laws and College Students: Intersections on the Development Highway
This webinar is available as a Replay
Duration: 1 hour
Speaker: Dr. Ken Winters
The pro-marijuana era in the US may create a context that impacts the use of and consequences of marijuana by young adults.
Twenty-three states have medical marijuana laws and four states permit its recreational use.
Public health concerns and libertarian views are often at odds with this emerging pro-marijuana landscape.
One public health question is whether pro-marijuana laws are contributing to changes in marijuana use and associated problems by young adults.
This webinar will review the impact that changes in the new marijuana landscape have on college campuses.
We will also examine the concerns of institutional leaders and explore the public health implications as well as looking at ways campuses can be proactive in their approach to this issue.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
- Gain an understanding of the marijuana laws in the US with respect to medical and recreational laws.
- Increase knowledge of the possible health and social consequences of marijuana use by college students
- Gain appreciation of counseling and policy-related approaches to address this issue on college campuses.
