Old Westbury, NY United StatesThe Politics, Economic and Law Department at SUNY Old Westbury which houses the Pre-law Center is seeking a Pre-law Advisor. The Pre-law Center serves all Old Westbury students and graduates considering law school. This part-time position includes teaching one undergraduate law course per semester and approximately thirteen (13) hours per week of advising and coordinating other activities of the Pre-law Center.
Responsibilities and activities include, but are not limited to:
- maintaining the Pre-law Center,
- working with alumni and students in all stages of the law school application process,
- serve as the University's point-person for the 3+3 program with University of Buffalo Law School (https://www.oldwestbury.edu/programs-courses/3-3-pathways-ba-and-jd),
- coordinating students' applications for the Nassau County Bar Association Mentorship Program and Brooklyn District Attorney's Office,
- liaise with the Student Success Center and taking referrals for any student applying to law school,
- developing new internship opportunities,
- advising the Pre-law Society,
- advising for the Pre-law Studies Minor (https://www.oldwestbury.edu/programs-courses/pre-law-studies-minor), and
- organizing two to three recruiting programs/events per year.
The Pre-law Advisor's duties will align with the best practices of the Pre-law Advisors National Council and its regional Northeast Association for Pre-law Advisors.
This is a part-time, ten (10) month position, August through May, requiring a flexible schedule of twenty (20) hours per week.

Minimum Requirements:
- A Juris Doctor degree.
- Experience teaching undergraduate law courses.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience teaching an ethnically diverse, working-student population.
- Experience using Brightspace.
